Description
Why Should You Put a Magnetic Ring Stand Case on a Galaxy S21 Plus Instead of a Plain Shell?
Because a ring stand solves two problems a plain shell cannot: it gives you something to hold on a 6.7-inch phone that is genuinely too wide for one hand, and it gives you a stand anywhere you set the phone down. The Galaxy S21 Plus Magnetic Ring Stand Case is a hybrid case built from a polycarbonate outer shell with a shock-absorbing inner layer, and the whole back of it is organised around one component: a metal ring on a geared hinge that rotates a full 360 degrees and folds flat when you do not want it.
That ring does triple duty. Folded out and laid down, it props the phone at a viewing angle in landscape or portrait. Slipped over a finger, it turns a two-handed phone into a one-handed phone and makes the drop you were going to have simply not happen. And because the ring sits on a magnet array, the case snaps onto MagSafe accessories and magnetic mounts, while still passing Qi wireless charging straight through to the phone.
This case is built for the Samsung Galaxy S21 Plus specifically. It comes in six colours: Black, Deep Green, Orange, Purple, Red and Deep Blue. If you have been carrying a bare S21 Plus, or a slim shell that offers nothing to grip, this is the upgrade that changes how the phone feels in your hand every single day. Welcome to the Gorilla Family.
What Do You Actually Get With This Case?
You get a hybrid hard case with an integrated rotating magnetic ring stand, in your choice of six colours, at one price. Here is the full specification as supplied by the manufacturer:
- Six colour choices: Black, Deep Green, Orange, Purple, Red and Deep Blue.
- Case type: hybrid case, rugged finish, with a built-in rotatable magnetic ring stand.
- Materials: the manufacturer describes the build as multi-layered TPU and polycarbonate. The marketplace listing records the headline material as plastic.
- 360 degree rotating ring: the ring turns through a full circle on a geared hinge and tilts away from the back of the case to act as a kickstand.
- Magnetic mounting: the manufacturer states the case is compatible with MagSafe and with most other wireless chargers.
- Qi wireless charging: wireless charging is listed as a supported feature of the case.
- Raised bezels: the front lip and the rear camera surround both stand proud of the glass they protect.
- Surface finish: the manufacturer lists the finish as anti-fingerprint, anti-scratch and non-slip, and describes the colour as non-fading.
- Precise cutouts: the manufacturer states there is easy access to all ports, buttons and features.
- Drop protection: the manufacturer uses the phrase "Military-Grade Drop Protection" to describe the multi-layer construction. No drop height is published by the manufacturer, and we do not claim one. See the honesty section below.
- Weight and thickness: not specified by the manufacturer.
- Compatibility: built for the Samsung Galaxy S21 Plus. It does not fit the standard Galaxy S21 or the Galaxy S21 FE. Read the fit section carefully before you order.
What Is in the Box?
One hard case. That is the complete contents, and we want to be blunt about it because the product photography for this style of case is busy and it is easy to assume more is included than is.
- The case itself, with the magnetic ring stand already fitted. There is no assembly and no tools are required.
- There is no screen protector in the box. The case protects the screen only in the sense that the raised front lip keeps the glass off a flat surface when the phone lands face down.
- There is no camera lens protector in the box. The raised camera surround is moulded into the case.
- There is no car mount, no vent clip and no separate magnetic disc in the box. The case works with magnetic mounts you already own, but none is supplied.
- There is no cleaning cloth, no installation card and no charger.
If you need a screen protector or a lens kit to go with it, see the coupon block further down this page. The current Gorilla Family offer bundles those as a free add-on over a spend threshold.
What Is This Case Actually Made Of, and What Does That Feel Like?
It is a hybrid build, which means two materials doing two different jobs rather than one material trying to do both. The manufacturer describes it as multi-layered TPU and polycarbonate.
Polycarbonate is the hard part. It is the same family of rigid, impact-resistant plastic used for safety eyewear and machine guards, and in a phone case it does three things: it resists scuffing, it spreads the energy of a knock sideways across the shell instead of letting it punch straight through to one point on the frame, and it provides a stiff anchor for the ring hinge. A ring stand mounted into a soft case develops a wobble within weeks. Mounted into polycarbonate, it stays where you put it.
TPU is the soft part. It is a flexible thermoplastic with a rubbery hand feel, and it is what lets you stretch the case over the phone without cracking it. It also absorbs and dissipates energy rather than transmitting it, which is why the corners and the perimeter lip of a hybrid case are usually the softer material. In practice it is the difference between a knock that you hear and a knock that you feel in the phone.
The outer surface is textured rather than glossy. The manufacturer lists the finish as anti-fingerprint, anti-scratch and non-slip, and the ribbed panels you can see in the product photography are functional, not decorative: they are where your fingers land. A smooth case on a 6.7-inch phone is a case that slides off a car seat. This one does not do that.
Colour is listed by the manufacturer as non-fading, which indicates pigment through the material rather than a sprayed coating. In a case with a rotating metal ring resting against the back panel, that matters more than usual, because a painted finish is exactly where a ring would eventually wear a visible arc.
Will This Case Fit Your Phone? Read This Before You Order
This case fits the Samsung Galaxy S21 Plus only.
The Galaxy S21 Plus and the standard Galaxy S21 are not interchangeable. They are different phones with different dimensions and a different camera module footprint. A case cut for the S21 Plus will not sit correctly on an S21, and the camera cutout will not line up. This is the single most common ordering mistake on this product, so please check the model name in your phone settings before you buy.
It also does not fit the Galaxy S21 FE, the Galaxy S21 Ultra, the Galaxy S20 series or the Galaxy Note 20 series.
How to check in ten seconds: open Settings on your phone, scroll to the bottom, tap About phone, and read the Model name line. It will say Galaxy S21+ or Galaxy S21 Plus if this case is the right one. If it says Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21 FE or Galaxy S21 Ultra, this is not your case.
Not sure which Samsung you are holding? Our guide on Galaxy S21 versus Galaxy S21 FE: which case actually fits walks through the differences, and the Galaxy S21 cases collection covers the standard S21 if that turns out to be your model.
How Does the Magnetic Ring Stand Work With Charging and Mounts?
The short answer: it is MagSafe compatible and Qi compatible at the same time, and the ring is the mechanism for both.
Inside the ring assembly sits a magnet array. The manufacturer states the case is compatible with MagSafe and with most other wireless chargers. In practice that means a MagSafe-style charging puck or a magnetic car mount will find the case and hold it, and the alignment comes from the magnets rather than from you lining the phone up by eye. If you have been using an adhesive metal plate stuck to the back of a case to get magnetic mounting, you can stop. This case has it built in.
Qi wireless charging is listed as a supported feature, so you can set the phone down on a standard wireless pad with the case on and leave it. As with any rugged or hybrid case, a thicker build asks more of a charging coil than a bare phone does, so if you have an older or lower-output multi-device pad and charging does not start, that is the usual culprit. A single-device charger is the reliable choice.
The rotation is the part people underestimate. The manufacturer describes a rotatable magnetic stand that lets you freely adjust the angle when watching video or taking a video call, switching between horizontal and vertical screens. Because the ring turns a full 360 degrees rather than hinging on one fixed axis, you can stand the phone up in portrait for a video call and then turn the ring ninety degrees and stand the same phone in landscape for a film, without picking a side when you bought the case.
Folded flat, the ring sits close against the back panel and the phone still lies reasonably flat on a desk. Hooked over a finger, it is a grip, and that is arguably its most valuable function: the drops this case protects you from are mostly the drops it stops you having.
Who Is This Case For?
- The commuter. Magnetic mount in the car, ring over a finger on the train, stand on the tray table. One case covers all three without carrying an accessory.
- The person with small hands and a big phone. The S21 Plus is 6.7 inches across the diagonal. If you have ever done the panicked juggle reaching for the top corner, the ring is the fix.
- The video watcher. Kitchen counter, hotel desk, gym bench, aeroplane tray. Anywhere you can set the phone down becomes a place you can watch it hands-free, in either orientation.
- The video caller. Portrait stand, correct eye level, hands free. This is the use case the rotating ring was designed around.
- The trades and outdoors user. Textured non-slip panels, raised bezels over both the screen and the camera, and a grip that works with the phone in one hand and a tool in the other.
- The person on their third screen repair. Most drops start as fumbles. A grip is cheaper than glass.

How Do You Fit It? Five Steps, Two Minutes
- Confirm the model first. Settings, About phone, Model name. It must read Galaxy S21+ or Galaxy S21 Plus.
- Wipe the back and sides of the phone with a dry microfibre cloth. Grit trapped under a case is the main cause of back-glass scratches.
- Seat the top of the phone into the top of the case first, angling it in so the camera module drops into its cutout.
- Work down each side with your thumbs and press the two bottom corners in last, until the perimeter sits flush all the way round.
- Rotate the ring through a full turn and fold it out and back a few times to free the hinge, then check the volume keys, the side key, the USB-C port and the speakers before you put it in a pocket.
How Do You Look After It?
- Wireless charging will not start. Try a single-device charger before you assume a fault. Also check the phone is centred on the pad: a case with a magnet array will usually pull itself into alignment on a magnetic charger, but a flat pad still needs you to place it roughly right.
- The ring feels stiff out of the box. That is a new geared hinge and it is meant to be firm. Work it through its full rotation a dozen times. A hinge that is loose on day one is a hinge that will not hold the phone up in month six.
- The case is tight to fit. A tight fit is a protective fit. Go corner by corner rather than trying to force the whole perimeter at once, and never lever it on with a hard object.
- Lint in the texture. A strip of tape lifts it out of the ribbed panels faster than any brush.
- Cleaning. Mild soap on a damp cloth, then dry it before refitting. Avoid alcohol wipes and solvents on the coloured finish.
- Removing it. Start at a bottom corner and peel outward and upward. Do not pull on the ring to lever the case off the phone.
- Cards and keys. The magnet array is strong enough to hold the phone on a mount, so keep hotel key cards and older magnetic-stripe cards out of direct contact with the ring.
An Honest Note on Drop Protection
The manufacturer uses the phrase "Military-Grade Drop Protection" and explains it as multi-layered TPU and polycarbonate materials creating drop protection. That phrase is theirs, and we are passing it on as theirs. It is a marketing description, not a test result.
There is no published drop height for this case, no drop count, and no independent MIL-STD certification number supplied for it. So we are not going to print a figure. Where you would normally expect a number on this page, the honest answer is: not specified by the manufacturer. The same goes for weight and thickness. If that matters to your buying decision, we would rather you knew now than found out later.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which phone does this case fit?
The Samsung Galaxy S21 Plus, and only the Galaxy S21 Plus. It does not fit the standard Galaxy S21, the Galaxy S21 FE, the Galaxy S21 Ultra, the Galaxy S20 series or the Note 20 series. Check Settings, About phone, Model name before ordering.
Will it fit my regular Galaxy S21?
No. The S21 and the S21 Plus are different sizes with a different camera module footprint, and a case cut for one will not seat correctly on the other. For the standard S21, see the Galaxy S21 cases collection linked above.
What comes in the box?
The hard case only, with the magnetic ring stand already fitted. No screen protector, no lens protector, no car mount and no magnetic disc are included.
Is this a MagSafe case?
Yes. The manufacturer states the case is compatible with MagSafe and with most other wireless chargers, and the magnet array is built into the ring assembly, so no adhesive metal plate is needed.
Does wireless charging work through it?
Yes. Qi wireless charging is a listed feature of the case. If charging does not start on a multi-device pad, try a single-device charger, which copes better with the added thickness of a hybrid case.
How far does the ring rotate?
A full 360 degrees, on a geared hinge, and it also tilts away from the back panel to act as a kickstand. That is what lets you stand the phone in either portrait or landscape from the same case.
Can I use it as a grip as well as a stand?
Yes, and for most owners that is the main reason to buy it. Hooking a finger through the ring gives you secure one-handed control of a 6.7-inch phone.
How far can it be dropped?
Not specified by the manufacturer. The supplier describes the construction as offering "Military-Grade Drop Protection" from multi-layered TPU and polycarbonate, but publishes no drop height, no drop count and no certification number, so we do not quote one.
Is it waterproof?
No. There is no water resistance rating of any kind for this case, and we make no water resistance claim. Treat it as a drop and scratch case, not a wet weather case.
How much does it weigh and how thick is it?
Not specified by the manufacturer. We would rather leave the figure blank than estimate one for you.
Does the in-display fingerprint sensor still work?
Yes. The case does not cover the screen, so the ultrasonic reader under the display is unaffected.
Can I use a tempered glass screen protector with it?
Yes, in most cases. The case has a raised front lip rather than a built-in protector, so a standard thin tempered glass sits inside it. Very thick or full-adhesive curved protectors can catch on the lip.
What colours can I get?
Six: Black, Deep Green, Orange, Purple, Red and Deep Blue, all at the same price. Orange and Red are the easiest to spot if you put the phone down in long grass or a cluttered workshop.
Will the colour wear off under the ring?
The manufacturer lists the finish as non-fading, which indicates pigment through the material rather than a surface coating. That is the right construction for a case with a metal ring resting against the back panel.
Can I return it or cancel my order?
Returns yes, cancellations no. Gorilla Cases operates a 30-day return window on store credit or exchange, with a free return label for United States customers and no restocking fees. We do not issue cash refunds to the original payment method, and opened or used items cannot be accepted back under our hygiene policy. Why Buy It From Gorilla Cases?
Because we will tell you what a case does not do. This page does not quote a drop height, because the manufacturer does not publish one. It does not quote a weight, for the same reason. It tells you there is no screen protector in the box, that the case is not waterproof, and that the case will not fit your phone if your phone is a standard Galaxy S21. None of that helps us sell a case today, and all of it saves you a return.
What we will say plainly is that a 360 degree magnetic ring stand is one of the few case features that changes how you use a phone rather than just what happens when you drop it. You will use the grip every day. You will use the stand more often than you expect. And on a phone the size of the S21 Plus, that grip is quietly doing drop prevention every hour it is in your hand.
Six colours. One price. Free United States shipping, and a 30-day return window on store credit or exchange if it is not right for you.
