No. Samsung routinely ships 4G and 5G variants of the same A-series model on different chassis. The two versions carry different model numbers, and in past A-series pairs the differences have included overall body thickness, the exact placement of the power and volume keys, and the shape and depth of the rear camera housing.
Those are precisely the three things a case has to get right. A cutout that is two millimetres off will still slide onto the phone, but the camera ring will sit against the lens glass, the buttons will feel mushy, and the case will rock on a table. Treat the 5G and 4G A17 as two separate phones for accessory purposes.
How do I check which Galaxy A17 I have?
Open Settings → About phone and read the Model number line. Samsung model numbers begin with SM-A followed by digits, and the trailing letters distinguish the network variant. Write that exact string down before you order anything — it is the only reliable identifier. The box label and the sticker under the SIM tray carry the same number.

Will a Galaxy A16 or A15 case fit the A17?
Do not assume it will. Samsung changes the A-series camera layout most years, and the camera cutout is the first thing to break compatibility. Do I need a screen protector as well?
A case protects the edges and the back; it does very little for the glass in a face-down drop onto gravel. Tempered glass is rated 9H on the Mohs-style pencil hardness scale, which is what stops sand and keys — the two things that actually scratch phone screens. Does a magnetic case interfere with wireless charging? No. The magnet array is a ring around the charging coil, not over it. Power still passes through. Expect the same Qi speeds you would get without a case; a thicker case can slow things slightly because coil-to-coil distance matters.
Is the A17 waterproof with one of these cases? These are not sealed waterproof cases and carry no IP rating of their own. A case rated IP68 is one that has been tested to survive immersion beyond one metre; none of the A17 covers above claim that. If you need submersion protection, buy a case that states an IP68 rating explicitly.
Can I put a magnetic ring on the clear case instead? You can, using a stick-on magnet ring, but adhesive rings sit proud of the case and can peel off in a pocket. A case with the array moulded in is flatter and more reliable.
Will the wallet case block my tap-to-pay? Cards sitting directly over the NFC antenna can interfere with tap-to-pay. If your phone stops reading terminals, move the cards or remove them before tapping.
