Tempered glass is a thin layer of chemically strengthened glass, usually rated 9H hardness so it resists scratches from keys and sand. It keeps the original glassy glide of your screen, feels rigid, and absorbs impact that would otherwise crack the display underneath.
TPU film: flexible and curve-friendly
TPU film is a thin, flexible plastic that hugs curved and folding displays where rigid glass cannot sit flat. It is the right choice for foldables and heavily curved edges, and it self-heals minor scratches, though it feels slightly softer under the finger.
Which protects better against drops?
For flat screens, tempered glass wins on impact and scratch protection because the rigid glass spreads and absorbs force. Film is better at staying attached on curves and folds, but it does less to cushion a hard face-down drop.
Fit and installation
Glass installs fast and squeezes out bubbles easily, especially with an alignment tray. Film needs a careful wet or slow application to avoid trapped air. Multi-packs let you keep a spare for the inevitable reinstall.
